About Steppe
Steppe is a compliance platform for companies that have no compliance team. It turns a compliance program into a live system of controls, owners, tasks, documents, evidence, risks and vendors, all in one place, with an audit trail behind every change.
Why we built it
Most companies do nothing about compliance until something forces it: an enterprise customer sends a security questionnaire, an investor asks about security in due diligence, or a new law takes effect. Then they hire help, receive a folder of policies, and a year later they are back where they started.
We kept seeing the same thing from the consulting side. The knowledge left when the consultant left, and the same money was spent again the next year. Steppe exists so the program keeps running after the engagement ends. Year two builds on year one instead of starting over.
How we work
Steppe is built and run by VASUIST, a compliance consultancy. We do not sell software on its own and leave you to work it out. VASUIST sets up the program inside Steppe with you: the frameworks you need, the owners for each control, the documents you already have, and the integrations with your systems. When the engagement ends, you keep running it. In short, VASUIST installs the program and hands over the keys. Steppe is the keys.
A few rules shape everything we build. Steppe drafts documents but never generates evidence. Every readiness number can be traced back to the records that produce it. Nobody approves their own work. And nothing changes under you silently: when a regulation changes, you see what changed and decide when to move.
Who is behind it
Vaishnavi Sharma, Founder, VASUIST
Vaishnavi has built and run compliance programs across ISO 27001, SOC 2, DPDP and the RBI, IRDAI and SEBI cybersecurity frameworks, for companies in fintech, healthcare and marketing technology. She started VASUIST to give founders compliance that keeps working after the audit, and built Steppe to make that possible.

India first, global by design
Steppe is hosted in Mumbai and supports India's DPDP Act alongside ISO 27001 and SOC 2, with further frameworks such as GDPR, PCI DSS and NIST CSF available on request. The same control can count toward several frameworks, so companies selling into the US, Europe and India do the work once.
